Erik, Luc, and Troy resurrect the show after a long hiatus.

Let me foreground my conflict of interest right here. The new third co-host on this show is me, the author of this blog. I used to do the segment for this show called Gaming Ether but have joined them for the long haul as another talking head. Feel free to blog about my poor performance or comment on it here!

This was a solid re-entry into the podcastmosphere. (Yes, I think I did just make up that word.) The trio talk about hobby news since they last casted: the passing of father Gygax, the Dark Heresy and Warhammer announcements by Black Library (involving the passing of the license to Fantasy Flight), the redesign of Dungeons & Dragons.

Luc and Erik interview Lee Foster of Abstract Nova about his game, Aletheia (link to RPGnet review). There are some really nice mechanics in this game. One of my favorites is the idea of debriefing players after a session and having them explain what just happened (it’s a game of paranormal investigation). Their accuracy determines how many experience points they get for the session.

I introduce a new segment called “What’s the big idea?,” which is just about quickly stating things that inspired us recently. I mention an article I read about Tengu. Luc talked about a robot drone with twin machine guns outfitted for assassination. Erik brought up the interesting concept of “retconning” characters in long-term campaigns. (Reference comic books and how they retroactively revise character histories to fit with the current incarnation of a character.)

As always, there was cruel humor. Yikes!

Here is Episode 3 people!! I really hope you enjoy it as we had a blast bringing it you.

In this Episode we cover Some Industry News including some information on a local Montreal Convention RoyalCon, User Feedback.

The Main Event is about how to Run a better Game.

We also have a new feature, Interviews with GM’s of successful long term campaigns were calling “Other Peoples Games”.

We also wrap up on some of the neat stuff we found at GenCon in the Review Corner / Hidden Treasures Segment, and of course we have the very popular “Cruel Humour”.

The Show Notes will follow as soon as Luc can figure out how to post them to the Blog!!

Also we invested in some better recording equipment for use in the Lair Studios, so you may notice a change in the sound of the show. There appears to be a slight background hum, but I think I have isolated the source, so it should be less noticable in the future!

As always feedback of any kind is greatly appreciated!
